Ship

ProjectReusable does not plan to directly ship all the reusable pads to the schools. Rather, we will work with other organizations that will help us deliver to our requested destination. Thus, we will first ship to those organizations, which will then ship it out to where we would like it to reach.

Distribute

The delivering and distributing process will also occur through a different organization as per our request. The reusable pads will go where we would like them to go with volunteers that are willing to travel and take our reusable pads, but also introduce and teach the girls' receiving the reusable pads how to use them.

Box-up

After sewing the reusable pads, they need to be boxed up and ready to be shipped. The number of reusable pads that need to be boxed-up depends on the number of girls that will be in need in the schools we will be distributing.

Sew

Sewing is the most important part of this five-step process. It is also the most challenging especially if a volunteer doesn't have any prior sewing experience. We have a template and tutorial on how to sew reusable pads that are hygienic for girls. The reusable pads consist of  liners and a shield which is leak proof due to the use of PUL. Our sewing is adopted from Days For Girls.

Plan

Before starting any project, we need to plan the designated school for which the reusable pads will be sent and the number of girls to receive the pads. This is important because it helps us determine the number of reusable pads that need to be sewed, the amount of fabric and other sewing equipment needed.

PROJECT

Next Steps ->

As this project grows, it is our goal to actually conduct the delivering and shipping process ourselves. While delivering, we also plan to make it part of our project to educate and guide girls on how to manage their periods. There is immense amount of stigma related to menustration in rural areas of Ethiopia, and hope to dismantle such perspective as well.
